Science Fiction Museum

During the first part of 2004, Rockman et al conducted a series of research activities for the Science Fiction Museum that were designed to identify potential museum visitors’ perceptions of the relationship between science fiction and science. The research activities explored these visitors' perceptions using preliminary concept materials for one of the museum’s premiere exhibits, The Changing Face of Mars. Rockman also performed research to determine public understanding of the role of imagination and critical thinking in both science fiction and science, and the links between science fiction and science and the arts and humanities. Lastly, Rockman researched the elements of science fiction that best engage people’s imagination (such as people, places, time, relationships, technology, alien life, etc.).
